Be warned - you've asked the question, which could prove to be the first step down a slippery slope! With a little extra performance comes the prospect of a bit more - then even more.....

It can be more expensive to do things in small steps, rather than a significantly bigger one, so do your research on the various options available and the cost of doing each - then weigh those against the improvements they give. I once reckoned that a custom-built 131" should just about be enough, although I now reckon that I could probably get by with an S&S 124".

And in my case it is that on steroids. The Trike when 2 up, probably comes in close to 1,500 pounds. I bought it and rode it on Oregon and southern Washington for two years. There they have real mountains!! So, I did Stage 1 & cams to give it the muscle it needed in windy steep grades. Sure, you can downshift...but a bunch more torque in the climbing range is what I unwanted and got. And a Ducati sucks as a long distance touring bike.

...and oh yeah...even along the beach cruises now in San Diego it is more fun.

I also have an '03 ultra but with some work. It came off the floor with the 95" so I can't compare to stock. It was fine 2 up (could have used more TQ) until I started pulling a trailer. Went Baker 6 speed and that helped. Wife got a trike, but we got another trailer (one for the dog (service) and one tent trailer since we like to camp), so still the same performance. Needed more HP and TQ for passing, pulling hills, etc. Went 120" crate engine (Jim's) Clutch, Throttle body, blah, blah, blah. So you see it is a never ending cycle with me, but the addiction is fun.

Your point of view probably depends on what kind of bikes you've ridden and how long you've been riding. Having ridden turbo metrics and 10 sec qtr mile bikes in my younger days, the idea of a fast Harley is amusing. You can make them go faster than stock for sure, for me maybe a stage 2 might be the most I would do.

I had an 80" evo that your 103 couldn't catch and I have a 95" Twin Cam that it couldn't catch either.
Cubic inches count for very little if the rest of the motor isn't set up right.
