Default RGU tour pak question

So this idiot at my job hit my bike and cracked the tour pak. It is still functional but his insurance will be buying me a new one.

I was thinking that maybe I would just remove the tour pak for a while until I get the new one which of course will take weeks upon weeks. Yes I will leave the mounting rack in place.

If I do this, what would I do with all the wiring? Put it under the seat?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure how much wiring it is, but maybe roll it together and stick it in a ziplock bag and Gorilla tape it to the rack. My only concern with sticking it under the seat is pinching a wire.

If it is still functional why not leave it on?

I can still put stuff in it and it will lock but I can't strap anything to luggage rack. So I guess it is only mostly functional.

Besides it is something different to do for a while.

I like that idea. Just bag it and take it to the rack. I don't care what it would look like but it will make a good story for a couple months....thanks

If you do remove it you may end up wanting to make it permanently detachable. Big difference in the ride, especially with windy conditions.

....not sure i follow the logic....the pack is damaged but still functional....you want to take it off while waiting to put a new one on after it arrives. why not just leave it on? you going on any long trips that require the luggage rack? why not just leave it on until you get the replacement?

If you take the seat off and will it unplug from the harness?
