Certain things look good in the beginning & then get played out, like blacked-out & denim, and certain things are timeless, like traditional flames & chrome. They'll never get played out.

...but like anything else it can get overdone. Chrome needs to be placed tastefully. IMHO a bike drenched with every MoCo or aftermarket piece of chrome available looks cheezy, or the TTH syndrome (Trying To Hard) For example I just installed these chrome gauge bezels last night. Again, IMHO if I were to add the available: speaker, radio, and indicator trim pieces it's going to look overdone. I think this looks tasteful:
