[8D]Yep, That's the kind of info I'm looking for. I had heard about the misting problems with some of the A/C's and was wondering how bad it was. I really don't relish having to keep wiping oil off the bike, or having in blown back on my pants leg. So am I right in assuming that both the K&N and the Ness have this misting problem?

Thanks for the info.

A 'work around' for the oil dripping on the bike is to use a panty liner just inside the lower rim of your air cleaner cover. When it finally saturates, throw it out and steal another from the wife.

At least with the SE air cleaner [which is nearly identicle to the NESS] they have the rubber hoses from the breathers that direct the flow into the intake track for less oil in the air filter; but the rubber in those breaks down too and you need to keep an eye on them for replacement.

As I said about the kuryakyn offerings, they come with this breather/spacer http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp...ey&ci=2358 But you can buy it seperately and go with whatever air cleaner you like without worrying about the oil mess. Unfortunately, they will not work with an air cleaner in which the backing plate has the breather bolts integrated....hence my original posting.

You can drill the banjo's out on the big sucker and run tubing into an oil catch can and plug the holes inside the filter housing and do away with the oil dripping or being sucked into the intake.

I have the SE AC on my 07 Road King. I didn't like the football cover and replaced it with the
"Stratum Chrome Billet Air Cleaner Insert - 29247-01". I like the nice clean look. You will need a slightly long AC bolt than what is on the Stock cover or what comes with the Billet Cover.

the rubber under the air cleaner cover is a rubber gasket that is attached to the air cleaner. i noticed the wrinkled look on the pic and looked at the bike. No wrinkle, so it must be a pic anomoly

Not sure what Seahag is referring to I have been running the Ness big Sucker for almost 3000 miles and have none of the problems he speaks of. I got mine because 2 friends had the exact same setup 1 has over 75,000 miles on it and not sure how many miles the other has but it's been on there for 2 years and neither have complained about oil running anywhere but where it is designed to go, into the intake. Just my .02 worth.

Likewise here. Almost two years with my Ness, no problems. Bike has high comp pistons in a 95" build with Andrews 37G cams. I run it on the interstate at over 80mph regularly.

Just installed the Chrome Big Sucker I on the '07 Ultra. IMO, it's one of the best engineered optional A/C assemblies on the market. No hoses to allow excess oil to drip from. Excess mist goes directly into throat of intake.

Last 3 H-D's have had the Ness unit including previous BB Stage II Road King that was ridden hard at times, and never one drop of blow-by outside the unit.

Son also had BB Stage III Deuce, which he rode very hard, and never the first leak or problem with the BS I.

No issues with the Ness filters either; though I would replace one if needed with the K&N HD-0800 since they are more readily available in my area than the Ness unit.
