Default Front rotor replacement questions?

Since HD won't replace my warped rotors under the ESP I picked up a couple of rotors cheap from a friend that replaced his wheels and rotors with after market.
I've got several questions. There is some light surface rust on them. Do I need to sand it off, or just let the brake pad do it? If I should sand them, what grit paper would be best? And lastly, are the rotor bolts single use, or can I reuse them?

Thanks

David

The rotors will clean themselves on the first ride, so I would leave them alone. I would however get new bolts - they cost 52 cents each. They are indeed single use, new floating Harley rotors come with new ones.

You should also replace the pads, so you have matched sets.

Harley says that rotor bolts are a one use item. The new ones come with some kind of thread locker on them already. I personally hate the Torx heads on them and would replace them with Stainless socket head caps, but that's just me! By the end of this year I'll be retired and living near Hallsville...just down the road from you.

Welcome to East Texas. Hallsville is a nice little town. My wife and I looked at homes there 30 years ago when we moved to the area. 10 days or so ago, a tornado touched down there. Tore up a bunch of houses.

A medium grit flap wheel on a 4" grinder does a nice job of knocking off the rust and any glaze that may have formed. I always do this when changing pads.

I was down there when it went through. We went and scoped out the damage, mostly trees close by my fiancée's house. The bigger damage was in Longview.
