And I don't wear vinyl boots either.

Memories of old goldwing velor/suede seats...and Elvis hangings.

I say do what you want, that fabric is indeed durable and would be different for sure.

I would think that with fabric it will break down and fade quicker out in the sun. Just my thoughts....

Use Mean City for seat mods - for sure.

First choice for seat cover is leather for reasons already mentioned. Second choice is vinyl. Fabric covers, nope. Takes awhile to dry when it gets wet. Wears faster than the other two covers imo. Makes it difficult to move around in the seat when riding.

Leather is great and if you treat it right with leather conditioners, it will perform well for years. i replaced my stock vinyl seats on my 2013 FLHTK with leather when i had it done by Russell Day Long. i have about 25000 miles on it, 30000 on the bike, and it still looks like new. i don't worry about riding in the rain, i treat with Montana Pitch-Blend Water Repellent Leather Dressing i picked up at Fox Creek Leather (also available elsewhere), they also have a Leather Oil and Conditioner that works well for leather garments. I have a mustang seat that i think i might get leather put on but i seldom use it as its an extra seat.

Thanks all

Ordered: Saddlemen Explorer G-Tech Low Profile Seat with Driver Backrest 808-07B-03012, yesterday will get to try it out next weekend.

rockher_man, I knew this was unconventional but really didn't consider it outrageous.

And thanks for the suggeastion on sheepskin or fabric cover. Much better idea. Glad I asked the question.

The seat brings the total to about $1200 down the "Harley hole" this month. Have to consider the wisdom of owning both a boat and a Harley! But, life is short.
