Default Jensen Radio and Faring Speakers Upgrade

I have a 2011 Electra Glide Classic and want to upgrade my sound system. I was first looking at putting a marine radio in and kicker ps5250 speakers in, but as I look more into the Jensen radio it seems to be a better choice.Ii want to have a much noticed improvement in sound from the factory setup. Do I need to get an amp or will I notice an improvement with replacing the radio and speakers?

Might want to post this in the Audio Systems thread.

I have the Jensen radio on my 2005 Ultra + speakers, no amp. My stock radio broke and I was looking for a DIY plug-in replacement. I'm not satisfied with the sound level at highway speed, I need to crank the volume up passed 80% and gets lots of distortion at that level. The Jensen is pricey and with the addition of an amp you should look at other options. Look in the Audio section, lots of good setup there.

There are tons of better options besides the Jensen.. That thing is pricey.. You can spend less and get the same functions.. I'd go with an amp for sure.. No need to do all the work and not like it in the end

2 years ago I did a nice stereo upgrade on my Limited Ultra, and kept the stock HK radio for awhile. Last year, I took it out & replaced it with a $79 Sony so I could put my Ipod right inside of it. NOTICEABLE, in fact, amazing improvement for $79. You don't have to spend a whole lot to get better quality sound from your stereo. Gotta do an amp though.

Definetly go to the audio forum and read what the people who know what their talking about recommend. Or do like I did, try one thing after another! wish I'd known about this forum years ago. Could of saved myself alot of time and money!!

While it is great the Harley head unit is getting some attention in the aftermarket it is too bad it is by Jensen. Jensen never has been quality electronics (speakers were pretty "hot" back in the 70s). Much better options out there. The audio section is your friend.
