Talking 06 Road King Performance

I was wondering what people are doing to there 88ci road kings. I was thinking of doing cams but then thinking I should do a big bore kit. I cant seem to find anything on a big bore over 96ci. I was wanting to goto a 110, or do I just go 96ci with cams and head work? Any ideas out there? I ride solo and want to be able to keep up with my brothers 09 softail with 103 big bore.

Unless you split the cases yu are going to top out at about a 98. If you want a 110, i suggest going all the way to a 113 or 117. True, balance and weld the crank. Add
Cams, headwork, a bigger carb or throttle body & you will make great power
Suggest you also consider a front pulley change.

Should make bike respectable but it will never have the stroke of a 103 Unless you go all the way.

Just a question of $$ how much power do you want

Post this over in the Technical/Engine section and you will get more information than in the Touring section. Bigskyroadglide is on point with his advice on displacement and I totally agree that if you go the stroker route, don't stop at 110 as the additional cost to go to 117" is marginal.

Lots of options at 98", cost is not prohibitive and a stout 98" motor will walk away from any CVOs.

Talking 06 RK performance

Ok, sounds good. Money isn't really a issue. Not sure I want to trade in the King for a 2015 as I have had my eyes on the road glide but love my king as im 5'6 it fits me well, the glides are big even for me. I will look into the 98 as that just might do it. Just looking for a little more ump as I already have a stage 1 on it but im used to my street bob. Loved the power from that bike but got rid of her to get a bagger as everyone in the family has one and was getting tired of having to carry my crap with them. LOL
thanks for the input on this. Ill check out the other area, just wasn't sure if I should post here first as its RK specific.

One of my bikes is an '02 FLHT (Electra Glide Standard) and is no longer 88". After all the mechanical and cosmetic modifications, I would never trade her for a newer model; Rushore, Smushmore, not interested. I am thinking a well built 98" motor with head work, tuner and good tune will make you want to hang on to the '06 RK.

Default 98"

I went from a stock 88 to 98 on my bike. I had it done by Star Racing. The end result was 117 tq and 115 HP. Needless to say I am extremely happy with it.

You are limited to 98" as thats as big as you can go without an expensive stroker crank. Your 06 heads are better than 05 and down. You'll also need a few specialty tools. Cam it while you're in there anyway.
