Default To stage one or not to stage one?

I want to do a stage one...question is should I do it when I buy the bike or wait for 1000 miles or break in?

Here is my thought, I have been told that any accessories I get when I buy the bike and have installed will be covered under warranty. Sooo, doing a stage one should then be covered under warranty... right?

Also does the extended warranty cover a stage one upgrade?

I have an 09' with a 107 kit, next bike I am just going to do the stage 1..

Thanks.

Your ESP contract will have the exclusions listed- the ESP is almost always from a 3rd company ( not HD) and doesn;t come into effect until year 3

...the first 2 years are the Harley-Davidson Factory Warranty

...which a dealer cannot change the terms of.

IF the Dealer is offering a supplemental warranty on their work...get that in writing and ask what happens if you are 500 miles from home.

The HD P&A and Screaming Eagle catalogs list which parts are street legal and warranty compliant, which are not.

so look up the specific parts you'd like to use, then check the HD Warranty, then the ESP contract to see if you are good to go.

Do it right away. It will be covered by warranty, and you can work the cost into your deal when you buy the bike.

How many times do you have to ask this question, in how many sections of the forum?

IF, the stage 1 is done by a HD Dealer. Using HD compliant parts and an HD compliant download than yes, all will be covered by your 2 year factory warranty and subsequent Extend Service Plan (which is not a warranty). Any HD parts/accessories (compliant) installed pre-delivery are considered part of the motorcycle as sold and will be covered. non-compliant parts are excluded. And, contrary to someone else who posted, the ESP starts immediately for anything not covered by factory warranty (Trip Expense reimbursement and optional tire/wheel coverage). Once Factory Warranty runs out, the full ESP kicks in.
