RE: rear shocks
Clap,
Letting air out of your shocks will not lower the bike but the ride will be softer or actually mushy. When you posted about your new bike I almost said something about the lowering shocks but it sounded too late. I removed the HD lowering shocks, put my stock ones back on and installed a lowering kit 1 1/4 inch. The hd shocks actually only lower the bike 3/4 in. Look on Ebay under Solow Enterprises. They make a great product. I also lowered my forks 1 1/4 inch. You might just want to go with the hd front lowering kit. This should help a great deal. Another idea that works even better than lowering your bike is to get a narrow seat so that your legs are closer together. Adds height since you aren't doing the Russian Splits. Many upolstery shops can do this for you.

RE: rear shocks
Thanks Terry I thought that the dealer put on lowerring air shocks but they put on a set of progressive lowering shocks, non air. It rides great but still just a little to high. Like you had said if I lower the front it ought to brind it down enough to be just right. Thanks again for the info. Clap

What Terry said, I ditto. If it is still too high, try solow enterprises. I purchased a 1& 1/4 lowering kit. This plus the Progressive works perfectly. Then lower your front end 1 1/4 as well. That should do the trick. I did that to my Road Glide. Terry's advice is the best.

Here's a pic of my Road Glide in Hawaii.

RE: rear shocks
Terry mentioned the seat. It is good one to keep in mind. A good upholstry shop wil trim the sides of the seat foam, which will allow your legs to be closer together when you put your feet down(not spread apart so far). It's a pretty cheap alteration in comparison to everything else we do to the rides. ($35-$45) I think I had mine done and put gel inserts in front and back for around a hundred.

RE: rear shocks
I did a 1-1/4" drop with the SoLow kit and it worked well. Be careful though. I have heard that a combination of the lowering kit WITH the lowering shocks can cause bottoming out, or interference with the electricals mounted under the rear fender. I would stick with the stock shocks.

RE: rear shocks
Bill,
You are correct. Do not use the lowering kit with shorter shocks. You can't go more than 1 1/2" without bottoming out. Even at 1 1/2" you can run into a problem with a passanger. If you go 1 1/4 with the hd low profile shocks you are lowering your bike 2". That's a no no. Use your stock shocks (which ride better than the low profile shocks) with a 1 1/4" lowering kit and you will be OK.
Between my wife and I we weight around 375-400 lbs. Note: Most of that weight is me and with 15 lbs of air in the rear shocks we never bottom out. I run around 5 lbs Solo.
