Default WTF...Broken clutch cable

Have a 2012 Ultra Limited with 28,000 miles on it and just broke a clutch cable last night. Rode all day from 11:00 am till about 8:00 PM and just pulled into my garage eased the brake on and pulled in the clutch lever and snap.....cable broke. Timing was great but....Really sucks cause we are leaving to go cross country for a month in about 4 weeks. Hope I can get into a dealer soon with it being the busy season and all. Should be under extended warranty that is why it is going to a dealer. I have bars that are higher than stock so I hope that is not an issue getting a cable also.

Really seems odd that the cable broke this soon with the miles that are on it. Should have lasted twice as long.

If the dealer wont fix it for you, I have the cable off my 13 with 500 miles on it for sale in the classified.

Appreciate the offer. How much longer than stock is it. Might have to check it out.

Was your cable stock and was it routed properly? Top cause of a cable failure is too tight of a bend and lack of lubrication drastically increases wear and failure. Usually those things last a long time. Theres a chance it could have been defective. Did it break right at the lever end at the eyelet?

If it isn't a Harley cable,ESP won't cover it.

Routing perhaps, lubrication, no. Newer cables from about 2010 or around there shouldn't be lubed because there is a sheath around the cable and if you lube it the sheath can break down and get all sticky and stuff resulting in a hard pull

Why go to a STEALER when a good INDY is better and cheaper...

It was routed fine it actually broke about 1 " from the lever. It was installed by HD when I bought it new so not sure if that makes a difference or not with coverage. Just got ahold of a local dealer and they are picking it up this afternoon and claim they will get on it right away. Hope that is the case.

Call around for price, the indies in my area were way higher than the dealer.
