Default Has anyone had this happen….

A friend of mine sent this to me…he found it on another forum and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

“ALL HD owners whose rides have cruise control and, especially also having a cigarette lighter. Should you ever have the misfortune to be traveling down the road with your cruise control engaged and, for some reason blow the accessory fuse, YOUR CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT DISENGAGE BY THROTTLING/BRAKING/CLUTCHING!!!!! Those with cigarette lighters, that use them, already know these can occasionally cause the little 15amp fuse to blow. This is especially prevalent if, for some reason, your lighter has been dropped and has a small dent in it. That little dent will cause the housing to straight to ground and blow the fuse, immediately. The only way you have of knowing this happened, other than your lighter not working, is your turn signals/brake lights/horn will not function. Unless you've been through this before, you don't know about the cruise control. The only way to disengage it is to manually shut it down on your dashboard.”

i don't have cruise, nor do i have a cigarette lighter, but this strikes me as an 'urban myth'. if i'm not mistaken, the housing on the lighter is supposed to be a ground....

This has been discussed a few weeks ago here. It is pure fiction.

Thanks….sorry I missed the previous post…. I searched the NTSB and didn’t see anything there so I figured that I would ask the group. Sorry for the redundant post.
