Saddleman vs Mustang Seat

Personally, I'd consider Saddlemen for luggage. Mustang is really a great seat in my opinion. I have the Mustang Vintage Solo with built in backrest along with a 13" wide passenger pillion. Now that right there is all day comfort. I think Mustang has a pretty return plan in case the seat doesn't work out for you. Check their website. Good luck with your decision.

I recently installed a Saddleman road sofa on my UL. I haven't sat on a Mustang in probably 15 years. I can say that the Saddleman is the firmest seat I've ever had. Not saying that is bad at all. It is breaking in nicely. I spent 5 or 6 hours on it on Sunday and I got off with little to no fatigue or pain. The sun kicked my butt way more than the seat did. In my opinion, "sofa" is a bit of a misnomer. It's not soft and squishy, but it is comfortable and getting more so each time I ride.

I can only speak to Mustang Seats. I have the Wide Touring Solo with driver backrest. The cushion is firm and I like the shape of it. I don't like soft or squishy seats. I would buy another one if I got another bike. I don't think I could stand to be without it. It's 12 years old and it still feels like when I bought it.

Hey @airfuel
I have owned Mustang Touring and Saddleman Extended Reach seats with backrests. Both seats are excellent. Yes, the Saddleman seat is firm, and after 1.5 ownership, I am happy with my purchase over previously having the Mustang seat. My 2 cents, take a look at both websites' seat measurements. Next, go to your local HD and see if a used bike has a seat to try. Good luck.

I have both Saddlemen and a Mustang Super Solo with backrest and pillion.
For your wife's sake, and if my wife were awake, she'd agree, the Mustang is far more comfortable for what you're wanting, based of my own (subjective) experience. The Mustang is more plush and not as firm. Soaks up bumps and is wider. Can ride with her all day.
The Saddlemen for solo duty 100% though. Since my wife bought her own bike, the Mustang seat has collected dust.
