Default Upgrading 2000 Electra Glide Rear Brakes

I've found plenty of upgrade threads for the front brakes to Brembo, but I want to upgrade the rear brakes to allow servicing of the caliper and pads without pulling the rear wheel. My intent is to buy used parts and not spend a fortune.

As in understand it so far, I would need to modify the carrier that supports the caliper, add a spacer, and find a longer brake hose or have one made.

What parts would I need and what steps would be necessary to adapt those parts for my bike?

Thanks,
Frank

Anyone done this to an older bike? My main concern is how the caliper carrier would mount to the axle and swing arm.

I know Performance Machines and others have the conversions, but I'd like to use take off part and save the bucks.

If you use a recent Brembo caliper and mount, the mount needs to be machine out from 25mm to 1", to fit your axle. Also you need a spacer, as the Brembo bracket is much narrower than your stock one. I'm working on the same mod, but haven't finished it yet!

Thanks for the reply!

A buddy of mine buys wrecked Harleys to refurbish. I may have to go parts shopping on a parts bike for a caliper assembly and experiment with spacers to get the rotor sitting in there right.

When I did a search a couple of members mentioned a post that had a pictorial step by step of the mod and I'm hoping someone chimes in with a link to it. If not, I may have to make one of my own!

Post up some pics when you get it together!
