Secret method to remove brake pedal?
#11
I'm trying to take mine off right now. If I figure out the secret to this puzzle I'll post it.

That's my bad for not being more clear. Some WD40 and it came off relatively quickly. I see the detent that was mentioned, and I think that's what was holding me up. I thought about cutting if off, but part of me just said "figure it out".

That's the way I am. Most things will come off without destroying them. Sometime yes but a simple little pad you just can't let defeat you into cutting it off.

I was able to get mine off by getting under the outer edge length wise, pulling it over the top, and then "rolling" it off. It was a little tough, but only took a minute or two. I didn't want to cut it off, as it will be going back on so I can swap the nice one I bought onto the next bike. I saved all my takeoffs for this very reason. Only buy the pretty and shiny stuff once.

There is a couple of "V" notches inside at the middle of the pad on the top and bottom. I used a couple of long thin screwdrivers, one in the top and one in the bottom to get it started. It takes a little finesse to get them inserted but the center top and bottom should bugle out. Once you get it started it should slide right off.
I pulled mine off to put it on a Soft Brake lever, I still prefer it's plain basic look.

Not a problem - now from the manual and this posting I can do both later if I decie to upgrade the pedal configuration

My bad - I over estimated your quandary. My SG pedal was bolted (ok...nutted) on. I figured an Ultra Limited would have something better than the pos rubber brake peddle that simple peels off - which is even easier.
My apologies for not understanding how you couldn't remove the brake pad.
