SG Remorse

RE: SG Remorse
I dont like the bat wing , because it blocks my view . I'm used to looking through the windshield or nothing . Road both bikes they are the same bike except for the batwing and radio . If you want to be able to have both bikes , gat a detachable fairing with a radio and you can have both.

RE: SG Remorse
the fixed fairing is the only reason that i didnt get a SG. i really dont like being stuck with a mounted fairing in the summer... 100+ degrees makes for HOT riding. the stereo really didnt make a difference to me. having said that- if i were you- i would simply buy a nice Dragonfly (or similar) quick release fairing and possbily a set of hard-bags at a later time. that way- youll have the looks of a SG and a RK to go btwn.
with your 06 being paid off- thats a nice thing as well.

I can't believe you guys don't like the AIR TEMP gauge. Mine is at least 20 degrees off! I don't think I could do w/o it . If you would clue the Dog in on how to swap out for an oil temp gauge I would appreciate it! Ole HD should have thought of that ....
Dog
O Yea ..... I like them RK Customs ..... Sweeeet, but my SG is a little sweeeeeter! Thats my two cents worth

A friend dumped his 03 Road King for an 06 Street Glide based on looks. After riding it for one season he dumped the SG for an 07 Road King and wishes he had his 03 back.
His biggest complaint was how the SG handled corners with the lowered suspension. Said she would get to "wallowing" in the curve.
Your mileage may vary.

I've owned RKClassic with stock and lowered rear shocks...RKCustom (stock w/ lowered rear shocks)...and Street Glide with the factory rear lower shocks...
No difference to me in handling. If any at all the Street Glide may handle the curves a bit better to me...due to seat and bars which give a more aggressive rider position than the cruiser position of the RKCustom. IMHO.

Great points made by all. When you think of it, these are the kinds of dilemmas that one never minds having!
I think the primary thing that bugs me is the look of the fairing -- I've never had one before. The shorty windscreen & chrome walrus teeth do a pretty good job calming the turbulence. The radio is no big deal -- with my Ovals, I couldn't hear it anyway. I can also live without most of the gauges, but if I keep the King I'll probably add the dual tach/speedo. I have a couple of days of free rental credits at the dealership, so I'll probably take an SG over to the mountains to Leavenworth for the day so I can do some freeway time, mountain passes and be able spend a few extended hours in the saddle. At this point, I'm probably leaning toward staying with the RK, but we'll see...
Thanks again to all.

RE: SG Remorse
Just sold my RKC. Loved it and had a bunch in it, 95", pipes, chrome out the ying yang etc. etc. Biggest mistake I made was taking the RKC to the dealer to get an inspection sticker.
That sticker cost me $23,017.00 ( the $17.00) was for the inspection sticker the rest was the '07 Street Glide. The SG just has that look. The Road Kings are everywhere. In '08 the Road King Custom goes away! I got the best of both worlds. I put the RKC on Ebay sold it and the dealer let me show the sale as a trade. Saved over a grand on tax. IMO get the new engine with the six speed, I think the 88's will take a hit when these '07's get into the used market. Take a look at the '06 vs the '07 SG's on Ebay. The '06 is taking a beating.
Good luck.

RE: SG Remorse
I traded in my 2005 RK Custom on my Street Glide. They are both great bikes and I would love to have a RKC as a second bike. I wouldn't trade in my SG on another one however. The RKC was great around town but I really prefer the SG on long trips and riding through the mountains.
