Clearwater Darla Installed - 1/2
After some debate, we went for it. My buddy and I cut a deal on the Clearwater Darlas with chrome bezel. We dove in to the project after a couple of pints on a lazy day off... But that is another story.
The old HD fog lights that I had installed worked fine. I had replaced the H3 bulbs for a PIAA high output. They worked well, but I knew these would be better.
The kit comes well apointed, the lights are of high quality craftsmanship, as they should at the expensive price. They have the ability to dim and brighten themselves with pulse width modulation. And a handy Hi-Beam Override feature as well.
We tied the relay in with the light switch on my dash panel. The adjustment screw **** was installed in a blank filler panel with a drill. The kit comes with posi-connectors - which was a first use experience. They look good, just hope they hang together as advertised, and maintain a good contact.
Once wired, the test. They worked well and they were cycled through all the settings, low through high, highbeam [100%] and off. Once the fairing was back on the full test with the HD HID lamp. They clearly out do the low beam, however the 60W HID still outpowers them all.
They are however an instantaneous light, and will fill in the voids of darkness, as well as turn night into daylight, and revealing those pesky swamp donkeys prior to meeting them broadside.
I say 1/2 done as his 2015 FLTRXS is next up. We will get some night photos once resistered, and the snow takes off.
If on the fence, these are really bright!!, I'm sure the Ericas are brighter, but they are too bamn dig!
Look out Sturgis, you'll see the land based Northern Lights enroute in August.
