RK Classic bags and quick detach mounts

RK Classic bags and quick detach mounts
I have the leather Tour Pak for my RKC. Naturally it requires the quick detach mount setup on the rear of the bike.
The lids on my bags are getting beat up in the spot where the open lid contacts the head of one quick detach mount screw on either side of the bike. Anybody got the same setup and seeing this?
I've been thinking of putting a small, chrome headed carriage bolt in the bag lid to counter this, or some sort of cable system in the bag to limit the lid travel when the bag is opened.
Anyone else got a fix for this?

I assume you are refering to the saddlebags and not a tour pack. If I am wrong, disregard this.
I have the same rub marks on my rk custom bags. Have read that a lot of guys put a washer ot two between the chrome rail and the mounting kit. This should do the trick. I didn't much care about mine, figuring that I would add the hard painted bags at some point, but now I am really starting to like the leather bags. So I need to add washers to get the space out just a bit. I would wager that any hardware store would carry chrome washers, and would be less expensive than any you would get at a dealer. Just my thoughts. I will keep posted in case anyone has a better idea.

Had the same set-up on my '01 FLHRCI & never had that problem with the Tour-Pak - SB Lid did come in contact with my quick disc Pass baskrest-Luggage rack (Hit the "V" Logo) - but never had a problem with the Tour-Pak- Might check the alignment and see if another washer is needed???

When I installed my quick detach sissy bar mounts, I had some leftover washers from the kit and put a few between the frame rail and the bag mounts. It did move the tops of the bags outward and increased the gap between the bags and the bike, but at least the bag lids do not contact anything when opening. Someone should come up with something chrome or leather to fill this gap.

Good idea...I would have thought you'd have to move the mount out quite a ways to escape having the lid hit. With the washers on the bag mount idea, everything will look normal other than the top of the bag sitting out just a bit further. Sure beats punching a hole in the lid of the bag, or having to rig a cable.
Thanks for the suggestion guys. I'm going to try it.

Looks like these will not just fill up the rear gap, but also the gap from the top.

I have the quick disconnect mounts on my RKC. When I installed the the hardware, there was a 1/2" or 9/16" spacer included with the kit for this reason. I tried without the spacer because I didn't like the way it pushed the bags out. But due to the rubbing, I installed the spacer to reduce the wear on the bag lid. I'll take some pics when I get home so you can see what I'm taking about.
