But if you have a "wide" head like I do order an XL. I initially ordered a large and it would have worked if it was a little wider. I kept it for who ever is riding on back and then got an XL, works good for me.

The AK-88 is only slightly larger than the novelty I wore on my works property, they force helmet use.

The question is, do you want to be legal or do you want to protect your head? Just looking at some DOT helmets, you can tell they would not offer much protection in a crash. I live in a no helmet state but I wear a helmet, either a 3/4 or a 1/2. Granted, a full face would offer more protection but I opt for a reasonable compromise, not the skimpiest legal helmet. To each his own.

I have about 1000 miles settling under one of these helmets from bikerhelmets.com.

http://www.bikerhelmets.com/worlds-s...black-no-peak/

It fits my big head pretty well, is very comfortable, and I actually forget it's there. I feel it's a great value for the price and comes with a quick release for the strap.

I have both the Akoury 88 and a Bikershelmet.com They are obviously made by the same factory. They are built well with good paddimg. They are very light and comfortable.

The price for the one on ebay is shipped. The one on the website after adding shipping cost for a single helmet, brings the price to 114.95

All these things would make your commute much, much safer....

Life is full of risks, everyday, everywhere.

People decide how much risk they are willing to accept in everything they do...

Some will be willing to accept more risk for various reasons. Comfort, convenience, and/or cost seem to be big reasons most will accept more risk.

Many are content to play the odds, rather than consider the stakes.

In any case, many will not agree with what I consider acceptable risk and I'm sure many take risks I would consider stupid......

I let them make their choices and want them to leave me to make my own....

Every time I read a thread about small helmets or no helmets, numerous people will question the OP's decision and voice their perspective on the safety of their decision.

This is just me sharing my perspective......

PS- I saw a guy on a sportbike Sunday when we were having 20 degree above average temps. He was wearing a top-of-the-line full face helmet. He was also shirtless with a backpack, wearing shorts, and flip flops...

Wouldn't be my choice, but that's his business...

a good suit on the body in the casket will cover up most road rash- the Full Face helmet will allow for open casket vs. closed.

Recently bought a Crazy Al's helmet from a local Indy, really like the weight and fit. Haven't had a chance to ride with yet, as my bike is all apart for powder coat.

I just got my AK-88, my initial review is that it's great! Much more comfortable and lighter than the helmet I had from Outlaw. It fits great and much less of a "mushroom" head effect. Really happy with the purchase.
