Default Still alot of heat after stage 1 upgrade

Just bought a 2014 road king beck in October. It was new and bone stock. Rode it for a little while and thought man the right side gets really hot. Talked to the dealer and they said this was normal because of the stock catalytic converter and I should do the stage 1 upgrade.

A lot of $$ so I thought I would try some heat deflector 1st. Installed a set of the Kuruakyn heat deflector and little change so I save the $$ for the stage 1 upgrade.

So after a lot of research and reading many posts here I pulled the trigger on the following:

  • Arlen Ness Big Sucker Air Cleaner with the stock cover
  • Rush Ceramic head pipe
  • Kuryakyn Crusher Slip-Ons.
  • Screaming Eagle Pro Tuner
  • Bike tuned by the dealer
Picked the bike up and thought that all of my heat issues would be a thing of the past.

Went for a 200 mile ride today and the bike still runs hot.

Is there anything else I can try to reduce the heat coming off the exhaust?

Thinking an oil cooler might help but thought I would post here to get some thoughts before I head down that route.

Thanks

I think your model has an oil cooler already.

you can look at wards fans -alot of the guys here use them to good result.

for me ( and I am in the desert)- I find that thick jeans are the first best line of defense.

Will have to check them out. Yeah think jeans do help, but I am in FL and thinking if it is hot now, wait until summer.

You aren't getting rid of the heat. You have a 103" heat pump sitting between your legs. Honestly, the heat isn't that much worse in the summer...If the tune is good from your dealer, you are about as good as you are gonna get.

HD tunes only add a little spark advance and raise the rev limit some. That adds heat. All HD street tunes leave the lean burn EPA AFR.

A after market tuner will correct that. However it is an air cooled engine about 6 inches from your leg. It will always be hot.

Not all tunes are created equal...... Its my opinion when you get a tune from the dealer you are getting a preloaded map and some guy puts it on the dyno and plays with it for a little bit. Of course thats not every dealers dyno guy but a lot I'd bet.
Go to a Independent Dyno guy with a good rep. In florida I'm sure you have a few. Doc is spoke of highly. They can do a custum tune that can minimize heat and have your bike run right
Just my opinion

You said bike tune from dealer... Is that a dyno or just a EPA HD flash...... You should fined a good tuner in your area, or get a power vision from fuel moto they will help you out with a good map!!!!! just my 2ct swifty

Yes, get a proper dyno tune, best thing ya can do for performance (power/heat/ridability). But Harleys put off heat from the big air cool cylinders with cooling fins...

If you have removed the stock cat from teh bike and it's still hot check out captain itch. He makes a leather piece that he calls a crotch cooler and it helps a LOT!
