Default Anybody had luck powder coating a nacelle?

I have heard the metal used for the nacelle is a little different than the rest of the bike. Not sure thats true but ok.. Im wanting to PC my nacelle, Harley wants 300 bucks for a black one and Im fairly certain I could get by way cheaper.. For anyone that has done it, How did it turn out?

There's a guy on the Make a Classic a Classic thread that turned his black but I can't remember if it's painted or powder coated.

I have seen a few done and they look great. Be advised, there are some coaters out there to be avoided. PM me for details...

Just a thought...if you have any motor cops in your area that has the RK's, they would more than likely be happy to trade you their black nacelle for your chrome one.

2010 Limited with some stuff!!

I powder on the side, and I've pretty much done everything on my SG. Even the chrome stick on radio surround. I'm pretty sure you will be alright having it coated.

As long as you soda blast, or lightly silica blast prior to powder, it will be fine. Any shop that tells you otherwise stay away. It has to be prepped properly to last.
