Tomorrow I'll check my settings and romp on it a few times . I haven't gotten on it because I was breaking it in but I'm over 500 miles now. I'll see if it helps

 

X2. This would be my first guess. Does it sound like it is coming from the front of primary, where compensator is located?

 

its a 110. them motors are notorious for being louder than the 96s and 103s.

its possible that your comp nut is loose (stranger things have happened on new bikes), but doubtful. its under warranty. take it in, have the service guy listen to it, tell you it's normal, and then go on your way. (of course you want a copy of the service order documenting this). then when the engine blows, they get to fix it....

 

Yes...I agree...take the bike in to the H-D service dept. where you purchased it. Let them document the sound(s) you are hearing....If anything, you will have a paper trail of the issue if something happens later on

 

Sometimes overfilling the primary can cause unusual results. Mine was noisier than normal and was difficult to find neutral. Refilled according to service manual specs and the issues went away.

 

Very possible on the compensator nut. Had it happen to me around 8,000 miles. Heck of a racket till I figured out what it was. Thought the motor was going south on me.

 

My 14 FLHXS makes the same noise and at the last service they checked into it and said it was the compensator and that HD knew about the issue but there was no fix. I ended up using my V&H FP3 and bumped up the idle to around 1000 rpm and it pretty much took care of it. I can hear it sometimes but no where near as loud as it was. I have 23K miles on the bike.

 

I had that on my 14 Ultra....it was the EITMS...it kicks in at a lower temp and the first time you hear it it makes a heck of a racket...either occasionally blip the throttle or turn it off....

 

I would look to see if you have a manual screaming eagle primary chain adjuster. I put one in and it made all kinds of noises and ended up taking it out, went back to the automatic adjusting one and now I have the normal sound that the primary makes.

 

Got up this morning and checked the eitms and it was on. I left it on because I wanted to try one thing at a time. Fired it up and let it warm up. Romped on it in first gear about 4 times, each time quickly snapping it open then quickly shutting it down. The girl jumped on and then we went riding. Seems to have done the trick, no more noise. I think the primary chain adjuster just need a little help. Thanks guys for the advice.
