Everyone who rides got the "Why, it's so dangerous....." speech. You proved them wrong.
Keep the bike, and take it out when you can.
We'll be waiting here for you to report on your summer ride.

 

Best of luck, sir. Keep fighting, never give up! Definitely keep the bike. I'm sure you're like a lot of us who, when we don't have time to ride, get pure enjoyment from just a glance at our bikes sitting in our garage. If this is you too, why not keep that enjoyment in your life?
