You can always install Heat Demons and then use any grips you like.

Avon will replace the rubber parts of their grips for $20 I think. If you still have your old ones, it maybe worth sending them in, then you'll have an additional back up set...

Good information. I think I'll look into that. Avon grips are worth it as far as I am concerned. Thanks for the heads up.

I have the Avon Air Ride with throttle assist and think they're the best made. I recently installed a set of Polly Heaters in the bars and they get the job done.
Grips and PH's were a small but excellent investment !

Read a lot of reviews for all heated grips. .. I just bought the Avon Heated grips for my 2011 SG. Haven't put them on yet but they will be on soon with 12" LA Choppers Twin Peaks bars. Looking forward to my first spring ride.

You're not a cheapskate...you're thrifty. Yes PM's grips are quality and nice look'n, but @ $150/set...yowsa! Avons are awesome and you'll like having the additional $90 to spend on other goodies.

Just bought a set of Avon grips. Haven't installed yet so can't comment on them yet.

But I will say this about PM. Never again. I had a set and the throttle side came loose from the inner sleeve. Got them replaced and the second set did the same thing. I would expect much more for the price. Good thing it didn't happen either time while I was riding. Though the second time it did as I was guiding it down from my jack.
