Default Can this be true ????

A neighbor came over to look at my RoadKing and said I should put a piece of rubber under the stand when it is parked in the garage. He said that the jiffy stand will slowly drain the battery acting as a ground. Sounds kind of strange to me, but ?????

That is not what drains the battery after sitting a long time. It is the internal resistance between the two posts. I don't know what can be done to stoop the slow drain. You should be good for several months as Nilsa pointed out. Good luck.

Ha, ha, ha....

My wife's family thinks that if it's gonna go down below freezing and you have only a 1/4 tank in the car, you gotta go fill it up or the gas in the tank will freeze. No amount of talking will convince them otherwise (gas typically remains COMBUSTIBLE at like -100F - the best figure I've gotten is that, while it differs by gas component, gas freezes as something like -238 degrees F).

It could be that the gremlins I often hear about use the jiffy stand to get on and off the bike. Then they can drain your battery one amp-hour at a time.

You can put some grease on your jiffy stand to prevent them from climbing up. I am not sure if this is tested, but it does prevent gypsy moths from getting to the branches of trees.

Hey it maybe true for that guy, he may be one of those that once he puts the stand down its 6 or 8 months before he lifts it to ride to the bar. Tell him he should put tin foil inside his helmet to block the subliminal messages sent into the air by Honda or he might be buying a glod wing before he knows it. LOL

I agree with your neighbor, I had the same problem. I took thejiffy stand off and Ilay the bike down on a rubber mat. It solved my problem. The battery now stays fully charged.
