That's bullshit...but you should cover your mirrors or they will reflect light and burn a hole in your seat.

Might be better to hang the bike from ceiling with rubber hooks then you don't have to worry about the gremlins or the grounding problem. You also get more floor space in the old car port.

this will also keep wheel bearings from getting flat spots....

Ive seen electricians put extra insulation on wall switches to conserve energy? looks like a plastic/foam templet that goes behind switch cover?

It could be that the gremlins I often hear about use the jiffy stand to get on and off the bike. Then they can drain your battery one amp-hour at a time.

You can put some grease on your jiffy stand to prevent them from climbing up. I am not sure if this is tested, but it does prevent gypsy moths from getting to the branches of trees.
