I had the bike running and noticed the LED light on the bottom of the rear fenderwas out. I pulled the seat to see if the plug had become seperated, all is good there. BUT, no light still.

I wouldnt think this thing could have burnt out already. Is there anywhere else I can check? A fuse or something.

Mine just went out last week, didn't bother looking to find the problem,
still under waranty. Dealer had to replace it. Bike is one year old.

 

Isn't the plug for that inside of the tail light plugged into the bottom of it???

Mine went out after about 4 months. Dealer replaced it under warranty.

 

Is this a common problem with that part? I am having the dealer install that(among other things) on my bike when it shows up there in a couple of weeks(hopefully). If it is common I want to know to keep an eye on it.

 

Mine burned out too. It turns out the gasket between the lens and the light housing was not installed correctly at the factory and allowed water to seep in shorting out the led circuit board. My dealer replaced it under warranty. I did the labor and sealed it with a small bead of silicone around the mating surfaces and where the wires go in before I installed the new one. This makes it watertight and I'm not expecting any furthur problems like I had before.

BTW....Harley just introduced a running light/brake light combo as an upgrade for the running light only. Keep that in mind when you get it replaced under warranty.
