More news on an earlier HDF post, right here. I don't think it is a wet-head, but I believe it's in the latest SE catalogue.

It is the same engine as the 120r except it has the 259e cams. To get the warranty on it you have to run there head pipe, mufflers, and use a the factory down load tune. That is why the dyno numbers are so low on it.

I wonder how the motor would feel based on riding a 103" and then the 120" ? Same style bike just different engine. More torque or down low or higher rpms seat in the pants feel?

It will make you want one. More power everywhere. 10:2-10:5 to one compression with good flowing heads and a 259e cams.

Yes but I would wonder if you took say half of the cost of the 120" motor and invested it into your 103" motor. Would you be as satisfied or not? I know there is no replacement for displacement. Its like a BB over a SB engine. Just two different power bands.

I owned a mildly modified Dyna for several years, which was pretty darned quick solo. I reckoned it would be great if my dresser had the same performance, when loaded 2-up. I did the maths as best I could and reckoned an R&R billet 131" would just about make the grade!

Now that we have the 120ST, 120R and S&S 124" we really are spoiled for choice for a bigger bagger motor! But it seems daft to then talk of stripping and rebuilding any of them from the ground up. Sounds to me like trying to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. What about starting with a solid build from the outset? How about a low CR S&S 143ST?! Should be adequate.....

I rather have a S&S 124" motor with a built bottom end, if/when my HD 110" decides to take a dirt nap!!!

+1. I think they are making the S&S decision easier for some. Pretty weak for a 120.

Am I wrong here? It seems that some want this 120 Street motor to be a monster just because it is bigger. To me they are just adding a new offering of motor size choice.

So now the choice is: 103 with 70hp/90 tq, 110 with ??hp/100ish tq (I'm not for sure of these numbers off the top of my head), and now the 120 with 106hp/117tq. And these are all off the show room floor stock numbers.

There are a bunch of us that aren't happy with the power of the 103. We change the exhaust, AC, and cams and feel all better because we have taken all the EPA restraints out of the formula. So why wouldn't we just feel like we have to do the same for this 120ST motor? I'm sure if we did, we would see the same 25% gain in HP and 16% gain in TQ.
If it came out to those numbers, it would then be: 133hp/135tq. How would that sound?

And yes, you can take a 103 and add say a Fuel Moto power upgrade and get to the numbers this stock 120ST has. Would probably be as dependable or maybe even more.
