Just replace the saddlebag guards on my 2013 Electra with new chrome support. It will make checking the air pressure and cleaning the back wheel easier. I picked them up in the classifieds on this forum.

I like the guards- a few reasons:

1.) the kid on the "rat bike" decides he's going to part in the space between 2 baggers...lots of room until you lean the bike on the stand and his awesome spike footpegs chew up your paint

2.) dzus pins back out and the saddlebag falls off- the guard will catch it.

3.) I still have my left leg

I admit that the bike looks better without but the drawbacks can outweigh the look

Have a bagger fall over and muss the chrome is an "oops" have the bike fall and break a bag gets pricey

Well, to each his own and all that.I bolted my saddlebags down with a round head bolt from the outside in, with lock nuts on the inside.very solid, they will NOT fall off, nor can any asswipe easily steal them.I do agree that the drawbacks outweigh the looks.Sorry.

Good job. Looks much better without all the bars.

Yes I agree there is more risk but there are a lot of tourers around without the guards. This is my 3rd decker and never had a bag fall off, you have to be sure the pins are in good shape and ensure they are twisted to the lock position each time you install them.

I agree with you Mike. Maybe not the full Electra Glide bag guard treatment, but at least the smaller guard in front of the bags that the newer ones come with. Scratch in the chrome is better (to me anyway) than a torn up bag.

It an 1984 xc 500cc all original except the tank (still have original tank) and muffler. The back tire is the original one that came on the bike and i still have the original front tire.
