I owe you an apology - My 2015 tour pac tether IS attached to the right of center - However, the Eglide set up is on the left of Center - I left the stock tether as a safety? and The EGlide is installed on the left of center -

I agree, its not much but (if someone wants) to try and build it your self - go for it. We (bikers) often buy "bling" parts that are NOT needed or over priced ? - Its what we do, LOL

for me, I like the bracket and how it works

 

I've had mine for over year and while I only put the tour pak on for road trips the brace is worth the $80 to me. I can open the lid with a bag strapped to to the luggage rack and never give it another though. Freaks out some of my riding buddy's
