cheap. but nowhere near as nice or as unobtrusive.

i opted to go for the ultrabrace as opposed to using a 'chain' because the brace will keep the lid from opening too far, and also hold the lid open without putting a lot of strain on the tub. with the cost of the cvo tourpak, it was well worth it for me, especially since at the time that i bought the brace, there were a couple of threads on here about the oem tether, and the retractable tether failing.....

Rather than try to McGyver something together that may or may not work well, I went for the Ultra Brace. It works well. Expensive? Sure, but I hate money anyway.

Got this on order. http://www.rockler.com/large-lid-support# I'll add some support plates where it attaches to the Pak also.

I put the Ultra Brace on my (and a friend's) bike last summer.
A bit expensive yes, but we thought it was worth the
piece of mind".

I also ordered two sets of these today:

Does little good (other than a good sob story) to wait until after you have sustained damage to your bike to do some PM.

true dat!

you won't hear anyone who has replaced a tourpack bottom or lid complaining about the cost of the brace. the only ones really bitching about it are the ones who haven't gone through that misfortune.

i'm not giving it a chance to happen.

It is a freaking cheap lid brace...typically cost around 5 bucks...you can get a much better quality one for less than 20 bucks ...if you have any old tool boxes laying around you may already have one.

After almost losing a finger when the wind slams the lid shut... I got tired of that cable always being in the way. When you're in and out of the tourpak as much as I am, it's worth the money.
