The plug you refer to is the power to the fuel pump? He stated he had power there and could here it pressurizing. Good Call - clean and reconnect. Definitely worth a check even if connected. I would still want to see fuel flowing, insuring fuel pick up before I moved to the next step.

I had the same issue. I replaced my fuel filter and rode the bike for a month or two-don't know how many miles. One day I was riding and the motor died like I turned the ignition off, same as you.

I had the bike towed to the dealership and they said one of the lines to or from the fuel pump/filter had come off.

No problems since. I replaced my fuel filter again 5k ago and I'm hoping I didn't screw the hoses up again.

In addition to what everybody else has said, It would be very worthwhile just taking an actual look at the fuel pump. It could be that your fuel filter assembly came apart (that u-clip has to be installed perfectly)..

Had this happen to me after changing my tank. The u-clip came off and hose popped off. What a pain. Did exactly as OP describes.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. After trying all that was suggested I finally got into the tank and found the same problem as smithbrl. I reconnected the fuel line and she fired right up! Thanks again and ride safe!

Good tip about checking all of the fuel lines.

A modern fuel injected engine will not even "sputter" without having quite a bit of fuel pressure (25-30 psi, I believe).

That is why some have reported a small hole in that internal line causing a no start issue.
Any hole, split or line off a connection and you won't have any fuel pressure.
