did you go through the outer fairing or the cover under the switch? if switch cover how do you get the switch **** off? TR said something about a detent ball some where, but not sure. fairing sounds easier. thanks for your reply

I took off the inner fairing cap.

Remove the two T25 torx screws on either side of the fairing cap. Turn ignition switch fully to the locked position with key in the switch. Use your finder to reach under the switch and feel for a small metal protrusion. Push up on this metal piece as you turn the key past the locked position. This will release the ignition switch. Use a 7/8" wrench to loosen the top piece on the opening where the ignition switch just came out of. Remove all three pieces: top nut, middle metal spacer, and black lower spacer. Ten remove the switch plate. You should be able to work the inner fairing cap off at this point. Once that is off just release the wiring harness inside and follow the steps above. I used one of those blue wire splicers vs. soldering as I had just used up the last of my solder the night before when I installed my brake light modulator. Hope this helps.
