Hogster 1. Glad someone else feels the same way I do. Greenville is a nice place to look at new motorcycles and get parts if you order online and pick em up but you are dead on right about parts counter help. I have been there and done that.
you need to down a few good drinks next door a quaker steak to put up with their mouth tellin you "this wont fit your bike".
It's a clothing boutique.
When I need parts or service, I go to Timms in Anderson.

That is why I lookup the part numbers before going to the shop. Most counter guys doesn't have a clue about Harley bikes.
It is sad but true. Always look up your part numbers yourself.

I would have to agree about this dealership. I go in to buy a new bike and the sales manager says can we help you and I told him what I was looking for and then he just blowes me off and walks around helping others. So I said the heck with it and went to Timms in Anderson. Top notch place.

So I was eating next door at Greenville dealer and needed some oil filters. Go in to grab some filters. I told the parts manager, he helped me, what I needed and I had my hog card and asked if they accepted it and he said yes and he asked were I bought my bike from since my name wasn't in his computer. I told him and he said he wouldn't give me the 10% off because I didn't buy from them. I laughed at him said keep them. I will NEVER go in that dealer again.

Too may hundred dollar stores won't pay enough to keep a good parts man and over works them with any extra crap to "get their wages worth" from any hours they are there.
If the package was obviously NOT opened there is no reason to refuse return.
Talk to the manager or the owner. If they still refuse go elsewhere and make sure many others know about such "service".
I always go in with Pt.# or look them up in their books if I am there on the spur of the moment.
The local store has new owners and I immediately knew what they were the first time I went in. The new guys did not bother to get to know any customers unless they were there to buy a new bike. Long time customers were not even acknowledged. There is one person they kept from the old crew and I do all my business with her. That is IF I go there. I sure would not buy a new bike there.

I'm from Norman, originally, and you are the first person I've ever heard say anything good about fort thunder. They sucked when they were Bryant, and they seem to have gone down hill since becoming Ft Thunder. Glad they took care of you tho.
I work on my own stuff, so parts are all I buy there and they've always taken care of me.

Amen to that. The Service Manual and H-D Parts Catalog for your year model are indispensable.

Kutter HD online or Ronnie's HD online. No need for the dealership.

I live in Concord, NC about 4 miles from Speedway HD. I used to go in there to buy parts because it was close by. I always did my homework and knew the part numbers before I went. Without exception, they would always give me the third degree about what, why, etc. and drag out the parts catalog (which I had at home along with a service manual and internet connection) and proceed to tell me it was the wrong part, you can't buy that without buying this too, and other assorted BS. I quit going there and rode 20 miles to a different dealer where they would sell me what I want. I appreciate GOOD advice, but not BS or upsell. If they sell me what I ask for and it turns out to be wrong, my bad.

I have to say that after a few years I have gone back in there a few times and the experience was much better. There was a young lady at the counter who was pretty helpful and knew her stuff. Not real hard on the eyes to boot. The place has changed management and it seems to be making a difference.
