Default 12" Yaffe Monkey Bagger Bars - Extend or Not?

I'm getting real close to possible purchasing a set of 12" Yaffe Monkey Bagger Bars for my 09 Ultra. I have done a ton of reading but still not positive if I need to extend any of the wires or cables. I know normally for 12" bars you do not but I also know the Yaffe bars run a bit taller then normal bars. I already have the Harley Tri Glide clutch cable installed so I would think that should be good. So would I need to extend the wires and brake line? Going to internally wire them.

Thanks
Jerry

I did the 12in Yaffe bars on my Street Glide. I did extend the wires. It probably would have been possible without extensions but it would have been really tight. I went with 6 in over on the clutch and brake cables. Could have gotten by with 4 in over on both. Hope this helps and good luck. Running those internal wires through that sharp bend is a huge pain.

Thumbs up

I went 4 over on clutch and brake lines, per my HD mechanic, who has done many of them.

I bought a length of medium weight brass chain, and poked it through the internal wiring slot at the top of the handlebars, kept feeding it in, turned the bars to get the weight of the chain to help the chain make the curves, dropped the end out of the center of the bars, tied some parachute cord to the chain, and then ran the parachute cord through the bars. I sprayed the parachute cord with WD-40, ran it back and forth through the bars like 10 times, then brought them to the dealer for install.

They told me it was the easiest install on Yaffe Monkey Bars they ever did, and charged me two hours less labor for doing the chain-parachute cord-WD-40 thing.

When it gets warmer, pics of the Yaffe bars to follow!

Good luck Bro-

Clutch and brake have plenty of room. Wires will need extended.

I didn't extnd my wiring but by doing so, it's tight. If I did it again, I would extend.

I'm doing LA Chopper 14's this week. I was told the 14" are just about the same size as the Yaffe 12"s. I guess they measure a tad differently but the shop doing mine definitely insisted on all new cables as well as upper bushings.
