It Started!!!
For those who followed my endless quest for knowledge, loaned me tools, provided me with advice, I started my bike today. I hit the starter w/o plugs for several times, but the oil pressure just didn't come up. I put the plugs in, pushed it outside, and hit the starter. It fired right up, made a loud clacking sound for about 1-2 seconds, and then quieted down. I let it run for about 2 minutes and then shut it down. I did hear some strange noise coming from somewhere, but not sure where. The new E series mufflers sounded fine for the limited time it ran. I am supposed to start it 3-4 times and let idle for a short time and then let it cool. I didn't see any leaks on the rocker boxes, pushrod covers, lifter covers, or cam cover. But that might change as it gets hotter.

Yeah you have to actually run it to get the oil pressure up and it will take a good 3-5 minutes to get those lifters pumped up and oil flowing to the top end as well.
Just did a cam job on a buddies bike Tuesday and we were all freaking over some noise and and no oil pressure.
Ran the starter for minutes and minuites I swear and no oil pressure. Oil was moving but no pressure.
Once we actually started it, the pump sucked in what it needed, pressure built, and oil was pumping out the rockers in about 4-5 minutes. That was a long, long 5 minutes!
Anyway, the noise? We were freaking but it turned out it was a loose exhaust sheild... lucky!
Congrats on your successful mods. Truly is nice being able to say you've done it yourself...

My oil pressure did the same as yours, no oil pressure when using the starter, but jumped right up once it started, and my lifters quieted right down. That made me very happy.

Tomorrow is R day
Tomorrow I will take my bike out for a ride. Temperature is supposed to be about 40° but nice. I need to start with some short rides to make sure everything works ok. So far it has been started 4 times and only idled for several minutes each time, but no acceleration. I am scared, my first time doing anything like this.

Aw come on brother, where's your FAITH?! LoL
OP, let us know how those lifters sound. Mine are pretty noisy for a while in the morning, and at various other times seemingly randomly throughout a ride. Probably going to adjust them a few flats down this weekend.

That's why I started tearing my bike down because the lifters were making so much noise. Once the new Woods lifters got oil to them, they quieted right down, and when I started it after that, they didn't make any noise. At least that is fixed. Now if my maintenance is only so good.
