Default solar powered battery tender

did the search button and not too many results. did the google search and the same results.
Anyone here are happy with this product?
Battery tender that is powered from an electric wall plug is not an option because storage unit does not have any power outlet nearby.

My bike in the storage unit miles away from my house. I ride it only once a month.

The army has those, they are crap. I PCS'd to Korea for a year, left my car with my dad on jackstands and covered, solargizer hooked up, when I got back 12 months later, battery dead. This was on a brand new car before I left. I do not recommend them.

Seems like a waste unless you park your bike outside. My garage is pretty dark.

I've wondered how can I get a battery tender to work in a storage unit.

Search solar charger 12 volt, there are a few. Seems you would need a panel with a controller. probably have to mount the panel out on the roof etc. People use them at boat docks also, most likely in the $100 range for a good one.

Harbor Freight sells a unit that plugs into the pig tail. I bought one for touring if I find a camping spot without electric hookups near by.

It was about $20 and I had a 20 % off coupon. It is specifically for 12 volts and has a 1.5 amp charging rate.

Have not tried it yet.

The Battery Tender people make one that plugs into the battery tender lead.

It does keep the battery on my lawn tractor charged over the winter. I have the solar cell in the South window of my garage. It's one of the older models, and wouldn't keep the bikes battery charged, because of the radio keep alive circuit, and the security system. Maybe the newer ones would do the trick. http://www.batterytender.com/Solar/

The bikes are on regular Battery tenders.
