I have a 2010 Ultra that I purchased new. In 32,000 miles I have had the lowers off twice. Both times I immediately put them back on, I won't be taking them off again.

Never noticed a heating issue, but my legs get cold in the winter. 09 drove straight home from the dealer, removed and stored them, and never put them on again.

To get this back on track and because I am a picture *****, here's a pic of mine with the lowers. I was getting ready to head to Daytona so this is my touring set up. I leave the lowers on all the time now because I am too lazy to take them off...

actually I have ridden in cold weather and the bypass keeps the oil cooler from coming in.

after 20 minutes plus, the entire drivetrain is fully warmed and the oil is above the boiling point- which is the only thing that is important.

OK, didn't think about the thermostat, but still curious about the difference with and without in cold weather.

You can see from my location that 76º wouldn't be quite my idea of cold.
