Default Road King fairing?

For you guys with Road Kings, would you buy a fairing all over again? Really torn if the money spent is worth it?

I'll let you know shortly. I'm still in the process of putting mine together. I bought a Reckless fairing, stereo with amp, vented lowers with speakers and soon to install saddle bag lids with 6x9's and another amp.
I bought the fairing for tunes and wind protection instead of trading in a bike that's almost paid for and taking on more payments. If I knew 4 years ago what I know now I would have bought that Electra Glide I had my eye on. Don't get me wrong, I love my Road King but in hindsight 2 grand spread out over 5 years worth of payments would have cost me less than $25.00 a month and I would have the bike I'm attempting to create now..

No fairing for me. I love the Road King as is - without the fairing.

I too have a Reckless and a tourpak. I would do it again in a second. It's like having 2 bikes in 1. Both are quick detach so I install it when wife and I are touring. When not I strip them off and it's great around town. Bike is paid for and only has 35000 miles. Y take the trade in kicking if it's working.
Good luck with your decision.

I'm still on the fence for a fairing. Like others, I love the convertibility of the King, as I have the lowers and TP already. I'm not much on tunes, but when I like music I use some great sounding ear buds with my iPhone. So a plain-jane fairing might good for me but right now I can't justify the cost.

I ride year round, and yeah the extra wind protection might matter, but when you have heated gear it doesn't really matter much for me. Besides, that extra wind really comes in handy in the summer months.

Personally, as having an 09 road king vs. An 13 street glide. The big diffrences are you will get is a **** ton more wind on your and your passengers face above and below the fairing camparered the RK's. Sg- wind pertection on the hands a music. . Its just a traid off on wind and stereo and what your wife wants.. Happy wife, happy life...
