Default Spare parts

Back in the days before EFI, I always carried tools, an extra set of points, condenser, spark plugs and master-link. Now I have a '14 SG. Not to over think things but I always carry a few basic tools and plugs. Is there something else I should carry??

points...not for the last 35 years!

the ignitions systems are great and plugs last near forever- no coarse fuel mixing or oil to foul them.

maybe a little bottle of octane boost in the saddlebag.

roadside assistance program

cell phone

I carry multidriver ( incl the T27 torx!) leatherman, flashlight and some common wrenches, allen set. bulbs for lights.

I carry extra joints for the shifter rod, they tend to wear out. I just buy the complete rod, that's ho it is sold, and removed the joints and carry them.

I also carry an extra shifter rod, the one the heel/toe shifters attach to. I have a tendency to break those.

Of course the tools required and some fuses, zip ties and a coil of mechanics wire.

All good stuff above plus I carry a small digital multimeter for troubleshooting. I also carry an assortment of spare fuses, including a maxi-fuse. Tubeless tire repair kit. Switch out your incandescent lamps for LED's so you do not need to carry spares.

These new bikes are light-years ahead of my old shovelheads.... which I put many miles on back in the day.

I always carry these items:

A small tubeless tire repair kit (until I get "Ride-On" in my tires)

Two spare key fob batteries

Cell phone

AAA membership (w/motorcycle coverage), for towing

A multi tool, but haven't used it yet

A leather jacket, gloves & rain gear

The listed stuff takes up one and one half of my saddlebags (the leather jacket uses the most room).

The rest of my space is for clothing for a multi-day trip, or left empty for stuff while cruising around town.
