ACC switch 10 Ultra LTD.

ACC switch 10 Ultra LTD.
I have the front fairing off my 10 FLHTK. I wonder is anyone knows if the ACC switch wires go up into the fairing. I'd like to hook that to my garage door opener. It fell off the bike and got run over but it still works. The case is smashed but the internals still work perfectly. I'd like to wire it permanently under the fairing and use the ACC switch to turn it on.

no, the wiring from the switch runs back under the tank to the acc plug- it also carries 12 volts which may not be what you want. ( you'll be able to access the wiring though if you want, on the right side of the fork neck)
it is pretty easy to wire a relay triggered from the high beam switch ( or the horn or the turn signal or...) to activate the GDO.
that gives both hands available to the motorcycle controls.

thanks for the quick reply. I was trying to wire it to the high beams and smoked the little NE555 one shot timer I built. So I just bought a 3.3 volt Voltage Regulator on eBay to drop the 12v down to 3.3 for the GDO. I was just exploring options about how to trigger the GDO.
Since I have the opener in my windshield pocket now, removing one hand from the throttle didn't bother me. There are times when I ride with the high beams on and didn't want to be powering the GDO all that while. And honking the horn when I arrive at home, well I didn't want to wake up the neighbors. So that pretty much left the ACC switch. Actually putting the GDO under the seat isn't a bad idea. Sure easier to remove the seat than the fairing. My range may be reduced but then I can compensate for that.
