I just changed mine today, 5016 miles.

First change Mobile 1 Synthetic... 1000miles
Second change 2500 went back to HD oil...
Third change 3000 HD Oil...
Today 5016, Hd Oil,

I don't think I'll be changing the tranny and primary as often... maybe every 5000, The oil I took out was as clear
as the oil I put in....

ORIGINAL: skratch

question for y'all here:

according to the 07 service manual, the engine oil gets changed every 5k miles, the primary every 10k miles and the tranny every 20k miles. do you follow this interval? if not, what interval do you use?
Engine oil, 2500 to 3000 miles around town - a little more if I'm doing weekend trips (4000 miles if I'm on a long road trip)

Transmission & primary, at least every other engine oil change.

Mostly, I change the fluids to check and clean the drain-plug magnets.

Like my Uncle jokingly told me when I was about 12 years old, "It's yours and you can wash it all you want to." I figure the bike is mine and I can change the fluids all I want to.

However, I believe the folks that write the Service Manual know what they are talking about. I would follow their recommendations except I'm old,hard-headed, and oil is cheap (compared to the cost of gas).
