Default Is this "O" Ring needed?

I bought the Screaming Eagle Cam support Plate/w oil pump P/N 25282-11. The instructions say to install an "O" ring which was included in the box, on the splined cam on Screaming Eagle Cams. I bought Woods Cams, but just wanted to make sure I don't need to install the "O" ring on the Woods cam installed in the SE cam support plate.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. Call Fuel Moto would be my advice unless someone here knows for sure.

I used it and I installed Andrews cams. Sits at the bottom of the splines.

Default Clarification

I also installed it, and then noticed the wording. Here is the exact wording: "When installing Screamin Eagle camshaft kits, install the O-ring included in this kit over the splined shaft of the rear camshaft as shown in Figure 1."

So you have the SE cam support plate and Andrews cams and installed the O ring. How many miles since doing it if you don't mind my asking.

I have only started the bike since installation. Finished it up last Friday. Sounds like a hot rod with the andrews 57h cams. Then I took it back apart for a painted inner faring and chrome forks....

Default ***** on a bull

I just keep looking at that O ring on a rotating part, and can't but wonder how long will it last and then shred pieces into the bottom of the cam cover. Just not convinced it does anything. Here is where I am on my build.

I don't know what it does but it is sandwiched between the cam and gear and will not drop out of there.
