Homemade CD

I am burning data CDs to play in the HK factory stereo on my 13 SG. When I put the cd in the bike, it will skip the first 3 songs, play numbers 4-7, skip a couple, plays about 70% of what's on the disk. I am using itunes, have tried a couple of different burn speeds, using Memorex blank CDs. Have any of you experienced this? Was it the burn rate, cheap CD's, dirty CD player, how did you fix it? Going through a bunch of CDs here, any help appreciated, thanks.

Thanks, I think it's the id3 tags too. Yesterday, I used the iTunes "get info" screen to manually delete all the info except the song title and artist. Burned a CD, did the same thing, obviously I did not strip out the id3 tags. How do you strip out the id3 tags and artwork?

Simply stripping out the info does not remove the ID3 tag. If you are using Windows there are many free ID3 tag editors that are much easier to use than iTunes. I have not used Windows for some time so I am not up to date on the editors available.
In iTunes I would create a copy of all your music if you still want to maintain a functioning music library. Once you have created a playlist select all songs, right click selecting "Convert ID3 Tags" then select none. Setting it to ID3 v1.1 will retain some info and the mp3s will still work.
ID3 v1 tags do not support album art so the conversion will remove the art. v1 tags also have other minor limitations such as 30 character limits in the song, artist and album fields. Long entries will be shorten due to these limitations. Not a big deal and the artist name will still display on the head unit.

Thanks, I finally got it yesterday. Learned you can't use iTunes to strip out id3 tags. Downloaded one of those free programs you mentioned - Mp3tag - and stripped all the bad 1d3v2 tags, burned a cd, 75 songs worked perfectly. Think I need to get away for iTunes and just go mp3 for my music files. Thanks for all the good advice.
