Ran me $300. I will be doing my next and future services. Gotta get my money back for the service manual.

Hey Glide, thanks for posting that checkist/pricelist. I printed out a copy myself; its easier than thumbing through the manual and gives me an idea on pricing so I can call around first. Very helpful. We have three HD dealers in the area and all three gave me different prices when I called (all were over $300).

I was quoted $242 and some change, which is over 60 bucks cheaper than where I bought the bike, and this dealer is an hour and half away, gives me a chance to leave work early and go ride anyway. I am having the dealer do the 1st service and I will be doing the rest. Got to save some money somewhere with these toys

What is so special on the 1000 mile service than the regular maintenance service. I am thinking it is only changing all the fluids, filter, and checking all the nuts and bolts which most likely they dont check anyways . I do my own maintenance but I figure it should cost you in total 6 qrts of oil which is 60 dollars, filter 15 dollars and the most an hour of labor 90 dollars. So the total should cost you in the ballpark of 165 dollars plus tax

STEALER want $375+tax for 1000 mileaservice.I think its a little to much
when all they have to do is change oil.
Well, it's more than just changing fluids. In includes lubing cables and tightening "critical fasteners." If you torque the bolts as specified it requires some disassembly, including removal of the tank to get to the upper heim joint. Instead of going through that rigmarole, I just made sure they were tight using whatever tool that would access them. Some were damn hard to get to. I tend to think maybe they would do the same thing rather than hassle with it.
