Default detachable two-up tour-pak rack stability

I know a lot more folks are going with the detachable tour-pak setup. I have my tour-pak off right now and am looking at this option, as well. I have read back through the posts and found a couple of folks who said it wasn't very stable, and a couple of folks who said it was rock solid. So, for those of you who are currently using the detachable tour-pak rack, what are your obversations on stability, movement/play, vibrations, etc...? Thanks in advance.

Mine seems to be in the rock solid camp. It certainly is stable and I have not noticed any vibrations or play.

Are you askin if the bike is stable without tour-pak on? If you are then I would say that the bike is super stable and handles more like a sport bike than any other style Harley I've had except Sportsters(4-speed Shovels, Fatboy, Springer etc.). It's a great mod and will make you feel like you have 2 bikes in one.[sm=goodidea.gif]

I'm using the detachable tour-pak setup. Wife and ride all the time have experienced no problems with it. When you install it just make sure everything is tightened down and check it from time to time like any other part of your bike. I have mine set back for the wife to get comfortable.

I've never noticed any movement in mine either.Plus,I've never heard a story of anyone loosing one.I'd do it again and never think twice.I say,go for it.

Ok I get it..DUHH!..Is the bike stable when the tour pak is ON when it's mounted with the detacheable kit. Like others have said I notice no difference from when it was rigid mounted.....sorry, I'm just slow today[8D]

The two up detachable tour rack if installed per instructions is rock solid. As with any thing else, the mounting rubber points might have to be replaced after wear occurs.I did a lot of research on this and talked to people who had the removable rack installed and if they had any problems over time.

Mine's been on for two years now and I get a slight rocking motion out of it. Less than a 32nd I guess. But it doesn't rattle or bother anything else. Like a previous poster said, just normal wear.
