Thoughts on a 21" front wheel
I'm thinking about putting a 21 on the front of my 14sgs. Not looking for info on the abs issues. What I am looking for is opinions from those of you that have a 21.
Do you like the way it handles?
Did the 21 change the way it handles?
How did it affect ride quality?
Would you do it again?
Thanks for the info.

I put up with the handling for the "look".
Did the 21 change the way it handles?
More "tippy" slow and in twisties. More stable in straight line.
How did it affect ride quality?
Not really. Rolls over stuff smoother. Fork action a little worse.
Would you do it again?
This is my second dresser with 21.

As long as you lower the front end around 1" or a little more, the geometry of the bike will remain the same and there won't or shouldn't be any handling issues. So it's not going to be just the cost of the wheel package that you need to get, you'll need to purchase all the other items to go along with it.

Since mine is a 14sgs it already has a 19" front wheel, do I need to lower it to go to a 21"?

Didn't lower mine when I went to the 21 and it's not a problem for me. I prefer the ground clearance and the ability to not drake the floor boards in twisting. Road to Iowa in heavy rain and I know it cut the wet road better than the stock size tire. The main thing you need to get used to is slow speed maneuvering ...specially if you have a passenger. It does want to turn on your quick. I won't go back. The look of how the wheel fills the fender space now and the way it handles at normal riding speed is better in my opinion.

I've got a 21 on mine, and I lowered mine 1" to keep the geometry correct.
The taller a wheel is the more it wants to stay strait up, so in the twisting it take a little more effort to influence the wheel to turn. This is something you adapt to and becomes normal after a while.
The taller wheel also rolls smoother going down the road.
The more you raise the front end ( headset, triple tree area ) the slower your steering will be
Also, it looks really cool with a 21" wheel ( when lowered ).
