Really no difference with the 21 up front. I've had a 21 on my SG for over 4 years with no issues. Steering feels a little lighter but that's about the extent of it. Going with a 26" now.
I lowered mine, 1 inch up front and it improved the handeling IMHO. I had to get the neck bearing adjusted a couple times, to knock out the wobble. I love the look, so it was worth it to do it. I liked it so much, this is my 2nd bike with a 21" wheel.
Why follow everyone else go 23", actually 21" is much more cost effective way.
My 23" rides perfect no difference to normal
That's what I'm talking about, my 23" wheel just came in this weekend, waiting on the tree and shaved fork slider to get here this week so I can get it mounted
Didn't lower mine when I went to the 21 and it's not a problem for me. I prefer the ground clearance and the ability to not drake the floor boards in twisting. Road to Iowa in heavy rain and I know it cut the wet road better than the stock size tire. The main thing you need to get used to is slow speed maneuvering ...specially if you have a passenger. It does want to turn on your quick. I won't go back. The look of how the wheel fills the fender space now and the way it handles at normal riding speed is better in my opinion.
Wow, you said exactly what I would say. I have no issues with slow speed maneuvering. If you are able to handle a bagger with a stock wheel you can handle it with a 21". If you have issues with slow speed a bagger might not be the right bike for you.
I went to 21" on the front a few years ago and was worried about changes to handling. The handling turned out to be nearly identical and there was absolutely nothing to worry about. Once the 21" was installed, I rode the Million $ Highway and Colorado National Monument later in the month with no issues. Lots of tight twistys and no problems. I lowered the front 1" and went 21" up front and 18" in the rear. SJ Ron
Well I feel as it did change the handling on mine....for the better! It handles more like my old Dyna, falls into the turns better and just a better overall feel. Just do it and don't look back.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Just like everything on a Harley it is all subjective. What one guy hates another loves.
