Default RE: 07' Emissions?

Im not saying they wont make any liquid cooled bikes, Im saying they wont all be liquid cooled. Every brand is selling SOME liquid cooled bikes, but every company still offers some air cooled also. You actually believe harley would stop selling air cooled bikes? Thats rediculous. Liquid cooled bike have virtually no advantage over air cooled when it comes to emissions. I also talked to a GOOD friend who is a harley area rep, he simply stated the same thing I said, "thats the silliest rumor since the Harley engines wont be v-twins anymore". Harley is a company that lives and thrives on tradition. Why would they convert to all liquid? Where is the advantage? Sure they run cooler, but whats that got to do with emissions? Jeepster no need to say sorry, but im not sure why you believe this, im not trying to start a pissing match, but I would like to know why you feel that all liquid cooled Harleys would be a advantage for the moco? I believe that harleys will be full of emission control components like almost ever other motor vehichle. You compare a harley to a honda vtx, yes thats a liquid bike, but that shadows are air cooled. Harley has a liquid bike as you stated, but that doesnt mean they will all be soon.
ORIGINAL: jeepster09

Thats one of the most silly rumors Ive heard. Why would Harley throw it all away when virtually every other company is still selling air cooled machines?

Silly rumor?

What is the V-Rod? Every other company selling air cooled? Honda VTX has been liquid since it's creation. Boy most other company's are offering liquid. I think I would be surprised if they are still air cooled....the times are changing and Harley is perfecting it now on the V-Rod.[sm=sorry.gif]

Keep in mind that a lot the bikes that are air cooled out there are also OIL cooled (Victory), these bikes require a bit more oil than just plain 'Ol air or water cool...some Victory models take about 6 and half quarts and if your using a good grade synthetic then your cost is about $40 or $50 bucks per oil change, add a filter now your up $60?

From reading about air vs. water or oil the emissions do suffer when the temps creep up.

Also read some reg's out there from the GOV that stock emission equipment cannot be removed and that pipes that come with your bike cannot be modified or replaced to exceed the factory noise decibel for 2007 models.

Now what? Harleys don't sound very mean with stock pipes?

Yamaha just came out with a new line of Star cycles. They are all air cooled 113 cc V-48. If they can do it and meet emissions then so can Harley.

I thought the new EPA regs were to start with the 2006 models?
