Default Stock clutch abuse

HEY ALL.Just wondering how much a stock clutch will take with mods. If a S/E spring is added with a clutch wiz what amount of horse power and torque would be considered to much before going to a clutch kit. thanks.

I suppose you are going to get all kinds of differing opinions on this. In my little world I would say once you got over 110 horsepower and 115 torque you should start shopping for a different clutch other than what Harley offers. A stock clutch might hold up for awhile but if you hammer it every day you are going to be getting towed in before long.

Forget the clutch wiz, waste of time. Now with the stock pack, a 340lb spring and an aim vpc95, I am holding 115 sq. No slip felt or shown on dyno.

I am stage1 96 with 48h cams and PV tuner, ride the **** out of it but do maintain it. On cold days it slips at the higher rpm's and am looking at upgrading it, possibly Alto clutch kit and a Barnett oem spring.

If you actually did "beat on it" it would already be gone ... That said I got 212tq/113hp running a SE spring without issues but I don't "beat on it".

racer, thanks for your comment. I read a lot of reviews on after market clutches, barnett, force one S/E and they all have their good and bad. I have a S/E spring, stock clutch and it is smooth and don't slip but want to upgrade just in case. I want to keep my stock plates just more clamping force. How would a aim 84 with the S/E spring work. thanks.

I don't know. I never considered the 84. Springs are cheap and easy to change so I got both the 340 and the SE(380) springs along with the aim 95. Figured if there was an issue with the 340 spring the tuner would put in the SE. The 340 is still in.
